Glazba kao terapija: što pokazuju studije
Glazba iza sebe ima više dokaza iz randomiziranih ispitivanja nego većina onoga što se prodaje kao wellness. Učinci su stvarni i specifični.

Cochraneov pregled glazbe za nesanicu u odraslih [5] najjači je pojedinačni dokaz koji ovdje postoji. Cochraneovi pregledi po definiciji su konzervativni, tako da samo postojanje pregleda koji se bavi glazbom odražava stvaran korpus ispitivanja.
Glazba nije liječenje kronične nesanice — to je CBT-I, o čemu pišemo na našoj stranici o dokazima o snu. Riječ je o jeftinom dodatnom pristupu s uvjerljivim mehanizmom djelovanja putem smanjenja pobuđenosti.

Vježbanje
Literatura o vježbanju područje je gdje su učinci najdosljedniji. Meta-analitički pregled glazbe u vježbanju i sportu pokazuje učinke na izvedbu i psihološke ishode, a pojedina ispitivanja istraživala su anaerobnu izvedbu i glazbu brzog tempa. Pokazalo se da vrijeme puštanja glazbe utječe na doživljaj umora, a meta-analizirani su i personalizirani interaktivni glazbeni sustavi za fizičku aktivnost.
Glavni mehanizam je disocijacija — preusmjeravanje pažnje od interoceptivne nelagode — što smanjuje doživljeni napor pri istom radnom opterećenju. To je stvaran ergogeni učinak postignut bez promjene fiziologije.

Klinička primjena
Glazbene intervencije za psihološke i fizičke ishode šire su meta-analizirane [4]. Specifičnije primjene uključuju suzbijanje sagorijevanja na poslu kod medicinskih sestara [3] i rehabilitaciju jednostranog prostornog nemara [2] — pri čemu je ovo drugo doista mehanističko, a ne samo relaksirajuće, jer koristi slušnu pažnju za utjecaj na prostornu pažnju. Glazbeni neurofeedback razvojno je područje s vlastitim pregledom [1].
Odabir glazbe za određenu svrhu
- Za vježbanje: tempo usklađen sa željenim ritmom kretanja, i glazba koja vam se stvarno sviđa. Osobne preferencije znatno utječu na učinak.
- Za san: spora, predvidljiva, s malim dinamičkim rasponom. Sve što vas iznenadi poništava svrhu.
- Za koncentraciju: poznata i bez teksta. Novost i jezik oboje se natječu za resurse koje pokušavate usmjeriti drugamo.
- Za raspoloženje: prvo usklađena, zatim promijenjena. Polazište od mjesta na kojem se nalazite i postupna promjena djeluju bolje od naglog kontrasta.
